What does cancer research do with the money they raise? We spend money on the very best projects that come our way, so we don’t have set amounts to spend on each cancer type. But we do keep an eye out for projects that will help speed up progress for cancers with very low survival, such as lung, pancreatic, oesophageal and brain tumours.

Do taxpayers pay for cancer research? Every year, California taxpayers make crucial donations to the California Cancer Research Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund (CCRVTC) on their annual tax returns.
How does the American Cancer Society spend their money? Fulfilling our mission. Overall, in 2018, 78% of American Cancer Society resources were invested in cancer research, patient support, prevention information and education, and detection and treatment. The other 22% of resources were used to fund our management and general expenses, and fundraising expenses.
